What we collect
GapFeed collects two types of data:
Public signal data. We scan publicly available sources (Reddit, Hacker News, Stack Overflow, Dev.to, YouTube, GitHub, Google News) to find pain signals and market gaps. This data is already public. We cluster and analyze it.
Visitor analytics. We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how people use GapFeed. This includes:
- Pages visited and time on page
- Referral source (how you found us)
- Device type and browser
- Approximate geographic region (city-level, from IP)
- Search queries typed on the site
We do not collect names, emails, or any personally identifiable information unless you explicitly provide it (for example, by sending us feedback).
Cookies
We use cookies for:
- Google Analytics: Tracks site usage. These are third-party cookies set by Google. You can opt out via Google's opt-out tool.
- Local preferences: Stores UI state like dismissed banners or filter selections. These are first-party cookies that don't leave your browser.
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers beyond Google Analytics.
How we use the data
Collected data is used to:
- Identify and rank market gaps (public signal data)
- Improve the GapFeed experience (analytics data)
- Understand which gaps and categories are most popular
- Detect and fix technical issues
We do not sell personal data. Aggregated, anonymized data (like "most popular gap categories") may be displayed on the site or shared publicly.
Third-party services
We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Google Analytics (GA4): Website analytics. Google Privacy Policy
- IONOS: Website hosting. IONOS Privacy Policy
- OpenRouter: Language model inference for gap classification. OpenRouter Privacy Policy
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Know what data we collect about you (this page)
- Opt out of Google Analytics using their browser extension
- Request deletion of any data associated with you
- Use browser settings to block cookies
Since we don't collect personal accounts or emails, most visitor data is anonymous and can't be linked to an individual.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy as our data practices evolve. Significant changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of GapFeed after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
